Combining Correlated P-values From Primary Data Analyses

چکیده
Research results on the same subject, extracted from scientific papers or clinical trials, are combined to determine a consensus. We primarily concerned with combining p-values experiments that may be correlated. have two methods, non-Bayesian method and Bayesian method. use model combine these assume follow certain distribution, for example, chi-square normal. The distribution requires independent identically distributed (iid) random variables. When data correlated non-iid, we cannot such distribution. In order do so, need adjusted, adjustment is done “indirectly” through test statistics. Specifically, one statistic (TS** ) obtained non-iid other (TS) iid data. ratio between statistics adjust (TS**) its violation. adjusted TS** named as “effective statistics” (ETS), which then used statistical inferences assumed As it difficult estimate correlation, provide more coherent p-values, also introduce novel both examples illustrate additional given

Accuracy Evaluation of the Unified P-Value from Combining Correlated P-Values
Meta-analysis methods that combine P-values into a single unified P-value are frequently employed to improve confidence in hypothesis testing. An assumption made by most meta-analysis methods is that the P-values to be combined are independent, which may not always be true. To investigate the accuracy of the unified P-value from combining correlated P-values, we have evaluated a family of stati...
متن کاملComb-p: software for combining, analyzing, grouping and correcting spatially correlated P-values
SUMMARY comb-p is a command-line tool and a python library that manipulates BED files of possibly irregularly spaced P-values and (1) calculates auto-correlation, (2) combines adjacent P-values, (3) performs false discovery adjustment, (4) finds regions of enrichment (i.e. series of adjacent low P-values) and (5) assigns significance to those regions. In addition, tools are provided for visuali...
متن کاملCombining Statistical Tests by Multiplying P-values
A general discussion on combining statistical hypothesis tests is followed by an application involving point source detection in skymaps. The traditional literature on combining statistical tests has concentrated on a regime in which p-values as large as 0.05 are still of interest, and in which it is dangerous to treat tests as truly independent. But for point source detection, very small p-val...
متن کاملTruncated product method for combining P-values.
We present a new procedure for combining P-values from a set of L hypothesis tests. Our procedure is to take the product of only those P-values less than some specified cut-off value and to evaluate the probability of such a product, or a smaller value, under the overall hypothesis that all L hypotheses are true. We give an explicit formulation for this P-value, and find by simulation that it c...
متن کاملConducting Meta-Analyses Based on p Values
Because of overwhelming evidence of publication bias in psychology, techniques to correct meta-analytic estimates for such bias are greatly needed. The methodology on which the p-uniform and p-curve methods are based has great promise for providing accurate meta-analytic estimates in the presence of publication bias. However, in this article, we show that in some situations, p-curve behaves err...
